LT: Kaip glaudžiai susijęs menas su estetikos suvokimu? Grožis yra subjektyvus ir jo suvokimas vis kito. Visgi, noras jį įamžinti išliko viena iš sudedamųjų meno dalių.

Antikinės Graikijos laikais buvo aukštinama simetrija, tvirtas ir figūringas kūnas. Viduramžiais įsigalėjo supaprastintas šventųjų vaizdavimas, akcentuotos išilgintos, tarsi dangų siekiančios proporcijos. Renesanso metu prisiminti Antikos laikų standartai, kurie buvo tobulinami to meto gausiais atradimais ir pažanga.

Prijaučiu Renesansui, todėl šių žiedų mūza patapo Mikelandželo „Dovydas“, sukurtas XVI amžiuje. Mano akimis, skulptūra ir juvelyrika yra sinonimai, tad interpretavau šį grožio etaloną ir perkėliau jį į nešiojamą formatą. „Dovydo lūpas“ išdrožiau iš vaško, išorinėms briaunoms suteikiau nuskelto marmuro tekstūrą, atliejau iš sidabro ir siekdama išlaikyti medžiagiškumą nupoliravau tik lūpų dalį.

Šis kūrinys yra tęstinas ir personalizuojamas. Galima jį plėtoti ir kombinuoti su skirtingomis lūpomis. Dovydas jau virš 500 metų rymo vienumoje, tad manau draugija jam nepakenktų!

EN: How closely is art related to the perception of aesthetics? Beauty standards are subjective and constantly changing. However, the desire to capture it has remained one of the main goals of art.

In the times of Ancient Greece, the ideal shapes were symmetric, strong and defined. In the Middle Ages, simplified depictions of saints took hold, emphasizing elongated, as if reaching for the sky proportions. During the Renaissance, the standards of the Ancient times were recalled once again, and were being perfected and improved by the numerous discoveries and progress of that time.

I relate to the Renaissance art, which is why the muse for these rings was Michelangelo's "David", created back in the 16th century. In my view, sculpture and jewelry are synonymous, so I interpreted this standard of beauty and transferred it to a wearable format. I carved the "David's lips" out of wax, gave the outer edges a chipped marble texture, cast them out of silver, and polished only the lips area while preserving different textures elsewhere.

This piece is continuous and customisable. It will be explored further and combined with lips of different shapes and materials. David has been contemplating in solitude for over 500 years, - I think it's about time for him to use some company!
